Dell has officially unveiled its new Studio range of laptops by introducing its new Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptop models which, apart from featuring 15.4” and 17.1” displays respectively, also come with optional backlit keyboards, capacitive touchpad and multimedia buttons, built-in (optional) Blu-ray optical drives and a range of fashionable (perhaps even ‘trendy’) colour schemes.
Available with a range of processor options including Intel’s Core 2 Duo Processor T9300 running at 2.5GHz, Dell’s New Studio laptops come with Gigabit Ethernet, Mobile Broadband (via either Sprint or Verizon) and Dell’s exclusive Wi-Fi Catcher which allows you to locate a wireless network to piggyback prior to even powering up the systems. And, for those looking to accessorize, Dell are also thoughtfully offer a range of extras – from earbuds to mice, sleeves and backpacks – that are designed specifically for the new Studio range and come in a series of colours to match those offered in the range (those being Jet Black, Graphite Grey, Plum Purple, Tangerine Orange, Midnight Blue, Ruby Red, Spring Green, and, wouldn’t you know it, Flamingo Pink).
Also of note, apart from the Studio 15 and Studio 17’s HDMI port, is the addition of an integrated webcam which, paired with Dell’s Video Chat application, makes VoiP and IM communications a breeze and the similarities with Apple’s iChat application certainly bears some scrutiny.
Placed squarely between Dell’s flagship XPS range and the ever popular Inspiration range of laptops, the new Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptops will set you back $800 and $1000 respectively for the basic models meaning you’ll have to factor in the price of a plethora of optional extras depending on your requirements.
